Chicago White Sox Still Plays Out of the Same Ballpark
The Chicago White Sox is an American pro baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois, part of the Major League Central. They play in Major League Baseball as part of the Eastern League Central Division. The White Sox was owned previously by Jerry Reinsdorf; and now they play their home games at Guaranteed Rate Park, located on the South Side of Chicago. The ballpark is named for the Reinsdorf family, which owns the team. Harry Caray was the name of the famous announcer who used to call the Cub’s ball games.
The Boston Red Sox vs Chicago White Sox play at home at Guaranteed Rate Field since 1969. It was built as an inexpensive but comfortable ballpark, so it was popularized by the famous announcer, Harry Caray. Chicago was the first American city to have two professional baseball teams, so the city was well acquainted with baseball and even more acquainted with the franchises that were created in other cities. As the decades passed, other franchises from other American cities came into being, like the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and the LA Dodgers.
The Chicago White Sox had originally been formed as the Chicago Black Sox, because the white player who had joined the team in its early days was called Jackie Robinson. The Boston Red Sox vs Chicago White Sox had many African American players, but the majority of them played for the white team. The players who were given nicknames by the fans, such as “Butch” Hunter, wore No. 7 to distinguish themselves from the others. The players like Frank White and Joe Teeples, were traded to other teams in the league after only one season with the Chicago Black Sox.
The team later became part of the National League and later became the Chicago White Sox again. However, the team had difficulties competing with the other professional clubs in the National League, like the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers. The team finally went into a sell out crowd in Shea Stadium for their third season in a row, but the team still struggled to compete. Finally, the ownership changed, when the former owner decided to move the team to Washington D.C. for the World Series. The fans had become tired of seeing the team struggle, and they didn’t seem to be going back.
The team struggled through several years in Washington, but in 1997, things really turned around for the franchise. The players put together a great team that won the next five World Series Games. The team finally returned to the big leagues and the fans once again turned out in large numbers. The team then struggled in the next couple years, but finally found success and is now among the top teams in the National League.
Today the Chicago White Sox still plays out of the same ballpark that was used for decades on the National League. However, they have moved into a much larger ballpark that is even more modernized than the old one. The current stadium is called the Wrigley Field and it is an excellent facility that is perfect for baseball. During the years of the team in Washington D.C. and the years before that in Boston, the team was notorious for bickering with the owners of the other teams in the league. But, now the team has formed a long-term relationship with the current owner, Jerry Remy, and the two parties have worked very well together. Chicago White Sox tickets are always available in the winter months, because the weather in Chicago is wonderful at that time of year.
